What Happens to Your Donations?

Donated Goods

What do we do with the donated goods we receive?

Your donations are processed at our donation centers, where the unsaleable items are separated from the saleable items. Unsaleable items are sold for salvage, and saleable items are classified and moved to the sales floor.

After four weeks, all merchandise that has not been sold is sent to our two outlet centers and sold by the pound. Items that do not sell in the outlet centers are baled, sold for salvage and shipped to countries in the developing world.

A minimum of three quarters of one million dollars of the money made from donated goods each year is used to help support our mission of rehabilitation, training and employing people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. All our rehabilitation services -- such as evaluation, training and job placement -- are free to our program participants.

Recycling and Salvage Program

Thousands of pounds of materials are diverted from landfills each week through our efforts. Our Recycling and Salvage program includes clothing, glass, metal, ceramics and books unable to be sold in our retail locations. These items are sold to salvage dealers around the globe, keeping them out of landfills.

Not only does our salvage program help the environment, it allows us to maximize every valuable donation we receive.

Thank you for helping us improve people's lives and to make the planet a better place through your donated goods!

Monetary Donations

Gulfstream Goodwill Industries provides more than two dozen helath, human and social service programs to people in need in the five-county area we serve. While many of our programs and services are partially or fully grant or government funded, your tax-deductible monetary donations help supplement these important resouces. In some cases, programs are fully funded by monetary donations and retail revenues.
