March 24, 2020

Dear Friends of Gulfstream Goodwill Industries,

In response to the unprecedented and unforeseen circumstances, as well as the latest developments surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Gulfstream Goodwill Industries has made the difficult decision to close all of our retail operations to ensure the health and safety of our Gulfstream Goodwill team, shoppers, participants and the community. Without the critical funding mechanism of our social enterprise, we have been forced to make significant staffing furloughs effective March 24, 2020. This is anticipated to be temporary, but will remain in place until further notice.

This will undoubtedly create an incredible hardship for most of Gulfstream Goodwill’s workforce at a time where everyone is not only concerned for their financial stability, but also the health and safety of their families. Immediate steps to provide support for team members who have been furloughed are being provided.

This incredibly difficult and drastic measure is a necessary step to stabilize our social service organization so that we will be able to reopen and rebuild when the global health crisis subsides.

Gulfstream Goodwill remains committed to our mission of “Changing lives through Employment, Training, and Housing.” As a result, we are continuing to operate all of our programs, providing essential services to those in need. There is one exception to this. We made the very difficult decision to temporarily suspend services in our Adult Day Training Program, as we believed this to be in the best interest of our participants based on the recommendations provided by the CDC. In order to address the safety and well-being of our team members and participants, services are being provided remotely, whenever possible, and we are asking all applicable individuals to follow CDC guidelines as a safety precaution.

We will continue to monitor the situation and heed public officials’ recommendations on the best way to navigate the days and weeks ahead. We will share information about any additional operational changes with the community as time moves forward. At a safe and appropriate time, we hope to resume normal activities.

We will share more information on our website and social media channels regarding the resumption of operations and any other operational changes. We ask for your understanding and patience during this difficult time.

Stay safe and healthy,

Keith Kennedy
